In the period 2012 - 2014, the cooperation project "An Giang and Pitea - Sustainable Communities" will be implemented. The goal is to develop An Giang into a province that produces green rice and has sustainable agriculture, in parallel with raising people's incomes. Through it, help farmers better aware of the value of agricultural byproducts, especially from rice. Many demonstrations on straw collection, straw mushroom cultivation and straw incubation as feeds in livestock support have been implemented and have a high spillover effect. Not stop there, the regeneration of energy from rice husk (production of rice husk firewood, rice husk power plant), utilizing rice husk ash as fertilizer, used in construction ... has been formed, expanding more and more.
According to statistics, An Giang has more than 700 thousand tons of rice husks per year. Every 5kg of rice husk will generate 1KW of electricity, so with the amount of rice husk, the amount of electricity is very large. However, nowadays, husk is being used very waste for cooking fuel for cooking, burning bricks ... and the waste is polluting the environment. Therefore, the source of rice husk material obtained in rice production should be processed into electricity materials, in particular, rice husk into rice husk as raw materials for rice husk plants. According to Dr. Nguyen Trung Thanh (An Giang University), about 1,000kg of rice will mow 600kg of rice (60%), 140kg of bran (14%) and 260kg of rice husk (26%). Director of the An Giang-Sweden Project Management Board Pham Ngoc Xuan said that the contents of the project have been implemented up to now. Farmer support schemes within the framework of the project have been implemented, including the model of rolling straws, composting straw for cattle feed and growing mushrooms. Besides, they also teach people how to preserve straw rolls. Since then, farmers involved in the project can apply and guide the surrounding farmers. Finding food sources for livestock is always a concern for family members, especially in rain.
